A 63 acre lake with a maximum depth of 10 feet. The lake has a public boat landing where you can canoe, boat and fish. Fish include blue gills, largemouth bass, northern pike and walleye.

Avoca Prairie is the largest tall grass prairie east of the Mississippi river. At over 2,000 acres, it is a haven for bird watching, hunters, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. There are deer and wild turkeys abound.

17.49 miles - Military Ridge State Trail
The 40-mile Military Ridge State Trail, in Iowa and Dane counties, connects Dodgeville and Madison, by way of an 1855 military route between Verona and Dodgeville. The trail runs along the southern borders of Governor Dodge and Blue Mound state parks passing by agricultural lands, woods, wetlands and prairies. There are several observation platforms adjacent to the trail for viewing wildlife and other natural features.
